You may have noticed some new faces greeting you in the Antenna reception during the last few months. Our reception team is the face of Antenna, and consists of Teresa Hickey, Jesse Ryan and Ella-Mia Burton. They’re always on hand to give members, tenants and visitors a warm welcome and offer their support where possible.
We sat down with Ella-Mia, Teresa and Jesse to find out more about them.
Tell me a bit about yourself…
Teresa: “I started working at Antenna in August 2019. In the mid 90’s I worked for Nottingham Trent University in student administration and then I moved around a bit. I lived in Sweden for a year with my husband due to his work, then we moved to Cardiff, where I worked at Cardiff University within student recruitment and administration. I also worked at a primary school as a teaching assistant and midday supervisor while my children were growing up.”
Jesse: “I have been working at Antenna for six months now, and this is my first time working as a receptionist. I’ve previously worked in hospitality in a pub in Caythorpe called the Old Volunteer.”
Ella-Mia: “Before joining Antenna in October 2023, I worked as a receptionist at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nottingham, and previous to that I used to support house viewings, which was similar to my current receptionist role.”
What does your role at Antenna entail?
Teresa: “It depends on how many bookings we have, how many members are in, or if there’s an event. We make sure that everyone has the best experience at Antenna. Being a receptionist is about being welcoming and friendly to customers and staff when they arrive. It’s really important to be kind and helpful and make sure everything is okay.”
Jesse: “Being the general contact for Antenna. I’m always learning something new, and there’s something different happening here every day that presents new challenges, but we work as a team to problem-solve.”
Ella-Mia: “Answering phone calls, greeting customers, assisting general enquiries and I aim to create a positive environment for everyone. Every day is different, and you don’t know who you are going to see.”
What’s it like working at Antenna?
Teresa: “It’s a friendly place to work, I love talking to the customers and the staff and I really like helping people.”
Jesse: “I love working at Antenna, because of how friendly everyone is, and I like being a part of the team”
Ella-Mia: “Antenna is a lovely environment. My colleagues are lovely, and everyone is so welcoming. Meeting new people and seeing new faces every day is such a great experience.”
