Hockley Hustle Nottingham have teamed up with Ladies Music Pub to put together an Industry Day programme on Saturday 21 October that will be hosted at Antenna and Rough Trade.
The annual music and arts festival, Hockley Hustle returns to Nottingham this month and we’re delighted to be involved. Run since 2006, not only is it a great party for the city and showcase for local artists, it’s also raised over £500,000 for local causes close to our hearts. This year, donations will be split across five local charities, including Emmanuel House, Base 51, SFiCE Foundation, B’Me Cancer Communities and Imara.
For 2023, an Industry Day has been added to the calendar on Saturday 21 October, rounding out the Hockley Hustle weekend, one day ahead of the main event. In collaboration with the London-based collective Ladies Music Pub, and funded by Arts Council England and Its In Nottingham, the day will include a curated selection of workshops, panel talks and activities to help people in the early stages of their careers gain insight and knowledge from music industry professionals.
Attendees can expect panels on management, marketing, funding, labels and making the music industry safer and more inclusive. Speakers include the Mercury Prize-winning Ezra Collective and Yazmin Lacey’s manager Amy Frenchum, Sophie Ahmed of Saffron Records, Selassie Tevie of Brownswood Recordings and BBC 6Music producer Shola Aleje. There will also be representatives from companies and collectives such as Queer Notts Zine, Touching Bass, Bluecoat Management, and more. Not to mention, Dominic Wallace (Spotify), Alanna Henry (JAZZ RE:FRESHED) and TikTok will also be providing artist surgeries, and the closing keynote lecture will come from Elijah.
In addition to hosting Industry Day, our extended Confetti Media Group (CMG) family of businesses will continue their involvement in Hockley Hustle. Our sister venue Metronome will once again host a stage, and the line-up includes Seas of Mirth, Local Healers and more. Students from neighbouring Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies will also “Do It For Real”, supporting across the festival, both behind the scenes and on stage. Not only will they be helping with the production of the event, and content creation throughout the day, they’ll also host the “Confetti Presents“ stage at Bunkers Hill showcasing some incredibly talented Confetti artists! Visit the Confetti website to find out more about Confetti’s contributions and CMG’s long-standing partnership with the Hustle Collective.
